Basic Life Support European Resuscitation Council

BLS is fundamental to all cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Basic life support (BLS) and, when possible, use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) is the first level of care for a person in cardiac arrest. During European Resuscitation Council (ERC) BLS/AED Provider courses, certified instructors will guide and support you in the learning process.

Pre-Course Preparation

The ERC BLS course manual and study material is available for online access on the ERC course management system (CoSy) which is a comprehensive virtual learning platform that provides candidates with course material and the pre-course assessment and stimulates lifelong learning. The candidates are provided with secure login so that they can access the 'CoSy' and complete the learning and assessment prior to attending the course.

Candidates are strongly advised to gain the necessary knowledge before completing the mandatory pre-course multiple-choice questionnaire (MCQ).

We encourage candidates to complete the online learning modules and assessment 2 days prior to the course.
